Bright Light Bright Light is Welsh-born, NYC living artist Rod Thomas who makes pop music influenced heavily by cinema, with nods to the 80s and 90s, his formative decades (the moniker Bright Light Bright Light is a line from 'Gremlins'), in its colourful, effervescent presentation.

The first unsigned artist ever to perform on Graham Norton's BBC One TV show in 2016, Rod not only made history by performing on the show with Sir Elton John, but also showed the world how much he's achieved as an independent musician. To date, he's toured the world opening for Elton John (55 shows), Erasure (27 shows), Scissor Sisters, Ellie Goulding, Hercules & Love Affair and more, as well as playing his own rapturously received gigs, numerous Pride festivals and sharing a bill with Kylie Minogue and Take That at Hyde Park.

He has released 4 studio albums including the 2020 #1 UK Dance Album 'Fun City' which focused on the LGBTQ+ experience and featured 12 LGBTQ+ guest vocalists including Sam Sparro, Andy Bell of Erasure, Madonna's famed singers Niki Haris & Donna De Lory and Justin Vivian Bond. Previous album, 2016's 'Choreography' featured three songs with Elton John, all Scissor Sisters members and GRAMMY nominated Mykal Kilgore.

And alongside making music, he's a celebrated DJ who runs a Time Out NY Recommended party 'Romy & Michele's Saturday Afternoon Tea Dance' based on one of his favourite films. The party travels when he tours, but is largely based in Alan Cumming's Club Cumming (who is also in the film). He has also DJd all over the world including US & EU Pride festivals, Glastonbury Festival and Bestival UK festivals. He is also an in-demand remixer, having made remixes for Jewel, Erasure, Loren Allred, Dannii Minogue, Drag Race stars Jujubee and Katya among many others, as well as his own Pool Side Disco and House remixes of his own songs for DJs.

For him, music is about connection. He uses his shows and DJ sets to raise money and awareness for many LGBTQ+ and humanitarian causes, having contributed thousands of dollars in 2020 to The Trevor Project, Ali Forney Center, ACLU, For The Gworls and local independent LGBTQ+ businesses to help them survive and thrive. He runs his own label YSKWN! which also acts as an umbrella connecting and amplifying LGBTQ+ voices in the arts and local businesses.
