A celebration of live music and the best new artists in Scotland.
The Hug & Pint, 10th August - 19th September 2021
Hailing from the South side of Glasgow, Leif Coffield is an exciting new Independent artist who's set to make waves with his unique, conventionally-palatable blend of Gothic, electronic, indie pop. After picking up his first guitar at the age of eight, the 25-year-old moved from East Kilbride to a farm in Chapelton where at 18, found his voice living in a run-down caravan. Like his surroundings, Leif describes his sound as, "cold, dark, broken." - all of which translates seamlessly into his music. Undoubtedly one of the most ambitious names in the UK, he's driven by a Billie Eilish-esque kind of sinister spirit, lulling listeners into an electro-infused, bass-heavy dreamland that's beautiful; woozy; and often heart-wrenchingly chaotic, all at once. The skateboarder and producer is impossible to categorise into one genre or style, but what can be certain is the young singer-songwriter is unlike anything Scotland has ever produced. Fresh, courageous, and wonderfully weird, Leif Coffield is a game-changer.
Katherine Aly is a unique talent with a genre-defying style based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The singer songwriter has already been championed by BBC Introducing, The Scotsman, The Scottish Sun and Jim Gellatly, The Skinny magazine, The Unsigned Guide, scores of blogs and Spotify playlists and featured in Vogue Italia. Her releases so far include the singles The Skin I’m Made Of, Sunny Days, Misty Me, God Breed and Butterflies.
Katherine Aly has performed at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Hidden Door Festival, EH6 Festival, Tenement Trail, Kelburn Garden Party, First Footing showcase and legendary venues like London’s The Dublin Castle and Glasgow’s King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and radio stations including Amazing Radio, CamGlen as well as stations in the United States of America, Canada, France, Spain and as far afield as Australia.
During the pandemic she continued performing for online events, on social media and did an outdoor secret show for her top Edinburgh fans and subscribers; she also got nominated for Best Female Artist on the Online Radio Awards 2020. Katherine is set to release her new 80s style synth-pop single, Glow & Ignite, which already received first spin from BBC Introducing, who enthused, “..that hook is SO catchy, we’ll be singing it for sure. Katherine is definitely reeling us in with those ear worms!”. She’s also scheduled to perform live in various venues and festivals around the country for the rest of the year.
Dahlia AKA Kerris Duffy is a trip-hop/witch-house artist inspired by FKA twigs, SOPHIE and Oklou. She consistently works alongside her small team of ambient producer Jordan Stanley and drummer/videographer Jamie Clapton. Dahlia’s music is both haunting and hopeful often focusing on themes of mental health and loss. Dahlia is a celebration of all things macabre and late ‘90s/early 2000’s pop culture. This can be seen in her covers of ‘Every time’ by Britney Spears and ‘All the things she said’ by Tatu: both of which had accompanying videos. In 2020 Dahlia released her first debut A side ‘Clarity’ which was featured on BBC introducing Scotland as a tip for 2021, Amazing Radio and Scots Whay Hay. Dahlia’s sophomore single ‘Spiralling’ will be released on 04/06/2021 and she is working hard to create a live experience for the re-opening of music venues in Scotland!
